Visual Identity

The Carpe DC identity is inspired by its origin, Carpe Diem. It is a Latin phrase, usually translated as "seize the day," taken from a book of the Roman poet, Horace.

To maintain the Latin theme, Seals began researching the era of Horace, and developed a mosaic theme/aesthetic from their findings.

Fashion Design

To accompany their plans of expanding to other cities, Seals, inspired by mosaic patterns, created a modular typeface to fit the aesthetic of each city. Below is the typeface for Carpe D.C.

Social Media

To create interest and anticipation, every week for the first year, Seals would design a fauxsaic to be used as the banner for their newsletter, and as a 6 panel mosaic on Instagram.
